FIBA BASKETBALL WORLD CUP

The FIBA Basketball World Cup is a world-renowned competition, known for its high-profile matchups. It was first held in 1950 in Argentina, where Argentina defeated the United States in the final to claim the first title of the tournament. Ten teams competed in the inaugural World Cup, and the tournament has expanded to 32 teams since the 2019 edition, a format that will continue in the 2027 World Cup. The 2027 edition, to be held in Qatar, will grant direct spots in the 2028 LA Olympics, with additional teams qualifying through four Olympic qualifying tournaments.

Official Logo and Slogan

The FIBA Basketball World Cup logo draws inspiration from the Bisht, a symbol of cultural and national heritage of Qatar. Inspired by the elegant flow of the Bisht and enriched with gold accents that symbolize prestige, the logo captures the garment’s unique colors, brilliance, and its rich texture.  In addition, the Bisht wrapped around the Naismith Trophy adds a bold and flowing design element.

The tournament’s slogan, “Step It Up,” is
heat-branded on the side, embodying
each team’s determination to push
their limits and give their absolute best.
