Official match ball for competitions held by the IHF

Launch of the new A5000 flagship model
Molten Corporation (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Hiroshima City, Japan; President and CEO: Kiyo Tamiaki), a manufacturer of sports equipment, will introduce a new IHF approved ball, the A5000, as the replacement for the current flagship model “X5000.”
The design of the A5000 is based on the X5000, which has been used as the only official match ball for international competitions held by IHF. The new ball uses the IHF’s main color of blue and a design based on the image of “flames,” which is the symbol of the Molten brand.
Also, more eco-friendly materials were used as part of realizing the reduction of CO2 emissions during the production process.
Molten, an official partner of IHF, will have the A5000 as the only official match ball used at all international competitions held by IHF.
Molten will continue to develop and supply handball products of outstanding function and design to every level of player, and work to fulfill the brand promise, “For the real game.”
Product Features
1. Environmental measures
By replacing some of the synthetic materials to natural materials and reducing the amount of ink used for printing, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 15% (*1).
Based on the current annual shipments of existing products, CO2 emissions will be reduced by an amount equivalent to the CO2 absorbed by cedar trees spanning an area the size of 10 handball courts every year.
2. Improved grip
By changing the surface material to a softer, easier-to-grip material, fingers can firmly grip the ball and the contact area will also increase. (*1) Because it is possible to grip the ball with minimum force, this improvement can lead to faster ball speeds and prevention of shoulder injuries (*2).
